November 15, 2023 - Picked this up as a library release, and it's an incredible example of older Bojo. Red and blue fruit up front on the nose, followed closely by mature tertiary orange zest and wet potting soil. Tannins softened and acidity rounded with age, finishes very long on complex white pepper notes. Outstanding, drink by 2028.

September 27, 2020 - Initially very pretty, slightly sweet, roses and fed fruits, high acidity.
3 hours open OMG what a transformation! Masculine, smoky, tar, grease, something intangibly familiar which it took a while to work out was mezcal as the dominant influence on the nose, black olive, dark earth, truffle, moderate tannin. Quite extraordinarily unique with the mescal influence.
At 24 hours this showed more feminine cherry mineralite, all the smoky and tarry notes gone.

    April 8, 2020 - Drunk over 4 hours.
    Dark purple, red.
    Smoky, mineral, highly perfumed nose.
Concentrated red and dark fruits, mineralite and complex spice, actually very feminine, quite lovely, juicy.

January 19, 2020 - This is a mono-varietal Gamay wine from Côte-de-Brouilly area. The color is dark garnet red. The dress is clean and deep. The nose is elegant & concentrated, mainly on very ripe red and black fruits (raspberries, strawberries & blackberries). Some earthy notes and a little violet are also there. The spices stand back. A slight hint of heat tickles the nostrils. In the mouth it's clearly a bomb of fruits! It's very ripe, almost jammy, with a touch of alcoholic power in the 2nd part of the mouth (it's acceptable but no more please). The material is silky and delicate. Big volume! It's ample! It rocks! The palate is medium-bodied, the tannins are very soft. The persistence is interesting: the tiny peppery notes, underlined by small bitters, slightly refresh this juicy bomb. The vintage is rich & hot so we must really pay attention to the serving temperature. It's a beautiful bottle drunk very quickly. However, I position it one level below the 2015 Morgon VV from the same winemaker…

October 20, 2019 - Dark blackish blood red core with purplish rim. Very young looking still. Violets and deep cherry nose. Very ripe, structured and spicy on the palate showing red and black fleshy fruits. Acidity is good which keeps the vibrancy in place with stony minerals on the mid. Definitely showing the warm and ripe vintage.

December 29, 2018 - Covering one of the smallest parts of this AOC, Cote de Brouilly produces similar wines to its big brother Brouilly, but instead goes on a more floral character. Even though Daniel Bouland is more well-known for producing legendary Morgon, many say that all his wines deserve a special place in the Beaujolais hall of fame. The hand-harvested grapes for Cuvee Melanie come from volcanic blue schist and are whole-bunch fermented in old wood with the help of indigenous yeasts. No fining, no filtration. Pretty much as raw as it gets.

On the nose, this is surprisingly reminiscent of Syrah (is that a bad thing?) with tones of ripe blueberry, blackcurrant and plum with whiffs of white pepper (debatable amongst other members of the group), smoke and forest floor. Literally fire on the palate (14.5% abv). Pretty big and concentrated for a Gamay. Medium (+) tannins. Rich all the way through with slight hints of VA. Definitely needs time to settle in the cellar, 10/10 would revisit.

July 11, 2017 - Tasted again at home after our visit there.....Although runner up to his Delys, I loved this wine as well...!!
Deep garnet colour....maraschino cherry and dark forest fruit, as well as, slight hint of smoke and mushrooms from a damp forest floor......denser and less fruity than other beaujolais I have been drinking lately.....could easily be confused for young wine from the Northern Rhone....smooth and round, well balanced for 14.5%...Really enjoyed..

April 26, 2017 - PnP, lots of tart fruit and earth on this one but didn't seem to come together for me, acidity sticking out a bit too much, I think this still needs some time in the cellar. Would like to revisit in a couple of years.

April 13, 2017 - Dark purple with a flash of magenta. Quite a reticent nose. Punchy, sappy palate, smoke, cherry, pomegranate but also quite earthy, great grip and very persistent.
