May 23, 2023 - Served next to 2015 Bürgel GG. 3rd time having Frauenberg, and quite typical for the vineyard it's noticeably denser and darker than the Bürgel and Morstein. Oak, blackberry, black cherry and chili spices followed by violet, tobacco, dried rosemary. On the palate the wine is lean, austere and very cool. Fresh, piquant acidity and a little thin. Nice balance, but comes across as a touch simple. Good, but I still think Germany has a ways to go before being able to compete with burgundy.

February 5, 2023 - Opened in Hong Kong, allowed to slow-ox for a 1.5 hours before enjoying over dinner.

This was the best bottle of this wine I've had so far. Everything was a bit more subtle, and the red/blue fruit was more expressive from the get-go. The oak and tannins had better integrated since the last time I had this in July 2022, and there were tantalising hints of Vosne spice mixed with vanilla from the oak coming through. Good minerality shining through, and very enjoyable all around!

December 23, 2022 - this had distinctive wood and sous-bois aromas, almost caramel-like.
on the palate the wine has an amazing acidity, long lasting, very well drinking.

lacks complexity and has too much wood for my taste.

December 22, 2022 - Consistent with a bottle a year ago. This combines elegance and finesse with a seductive sweetness. Already very balanced and showing many layers, this should certainly improve with more age and as the oak integrates further. 95 pts.

TN: Expressive, intense aromatics right from the starts towards the medium length finish. Wonderful combination of high oitched red fruits and earthy notes. Some crushed rocks and a bit of oak which has yet to fully integrate. But overall, wonderful aromatic balance. The structural frame is close to perfection, so round and elegant, full of finesse. Wow.

Decanting: Not decanted, no extensive decanting needed, good from the start.
