May 30, 2022 - Nice base of fruit, but still rather tight even after a couple hours in the decanter. I suspect a few more years might soften things up a bit. Nice wine.

March 22, 2021 - Really nice wine in a good spot. 8 years post vintage with absolutely no sign of decline. Robust blackberry and black licorice notes on both the nose and palate. Some dark chocolate in the middle. Moderate black pepper finish with dark toasted oak tannin. Soft edges on this one from start to finish showing really good integration. I think there's possibly some upside potential here but is a joy to drink now. Went very well with orange peppers stuffed with cheese steak and would go well with a variety of medium to heavy dishes.

April 24, 2020 - Just stunning. Rich fruit. Tannins. Beautiful acid. This was multi-faceted. Will buy more. Paired it with flank steak sandwiches. Blow my mind amazing combination

October 3, 2017 - I think this will end up being a good wine, but I believe I opened it about 5 years too early. A little clunky but I think it has a lot of potential once the tannins subside a bit.

March 18, 2017 - This wine is youthful, and dense. Black fruit core. Not really even sure that it is ready to go yet. Quite a bit of toasty oak on the finish. The front is dark black fruit, cassis, black licorice, chocolate and spice cookie. The middle of this wine is thick, dense, concentrated. This wine had a chalky finish, likely because I probably swallowed some splinters from the oak barrel. This wine was super awesome, and probably better with dinner than it is/was alone given the fact that some food really did help to balance the finish, which is a little bit out of whack right now. Giving the other a couple of years!
