May 24, 2019 - Monte de Oro Blind CA Meritage Tasting (Temecula, CA): Tasted blind. My favorite from a large flight. Correctly identified as a Napa Merlot dominate blend. Dark colored, sharp black currants, mint, eucalyptus, leather and forest floor. All well balanced with soft tannins. It was a crowd pleaser.

March 25, 2018 - This 2014 is dark scarlet colored with hues of purple, medium bodied, concentrated but somewhat subdued black berry and cherry fruit flavors with a firm backbone,h tones of spice, dark mocha chocolate, mushrooms, hints of earth and what the winemaker calls 'forest floor', turning to nicely integrated acidity and moderate tannins on the lingering finish.
