April 24, 2023 - Stellar nose. Has a bit of a muddy color. Super concentrated with lots of acid, salt, prunes, caramel, and chocolate on a very long finish. Doesn’t get much better than this. Bottle appears to be from the early 2000s.

May 13, 2018 - Flash note. A flash note is one that I distinctly remember the quality/overall rating of a wine but can’t give specifics because the tasting note was not written at time of tasting.

Drank at truffles in Stl with their Somm. It was actually pretty tasty. Oldest wine I have ever drunk. Good fun and good wine

May 31, 2016 - Chardonnay Shootout (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): Figs, candied orange peel and some marmalade with toasted almonds. Perfect harmony and subtle sweetness that seems to make this even more energetic. I remember when Ken bought this bottle last year in Beaune, of all places. I believe he had opened this bottle approx one week earlier.

May 14, 2016 - An amazing elixir from a hand carried bottle purchased in a little old wine shop from Beaune. Dark mahogany in color with aromas of dried fig, roasted walnuts, raisins, and orange peel spices. Lush and oily on the palate with great balance between the dark rich sweet flavors and underlying acidity which are so well integrated. A wonderful spiced finish that goes on for miles. Truly an unforgettable wine. The reason Madeira prices have soared. Special stuff.

March 6, 2016 - Notes of honey almond and spicy vanilla and cedar on the nose. A bit of chamomile tea as well. Distilled almond extract, earth, notes of very spiced honey on the palate. Extremely concentrated and almost syrupy and very complex. Some clover, balsamic vinegar mixed with strawberry, finishing with some creme brulee caramel notes. Finish lasts for minutes. Hints of bitter dark chocolate and coffee as the finish trails off.

May 2, 2014 - Had a taste from Corvain system at biga on the Banks in San Antonio. Michael the sommelier says he can do any of his wines by the glass. Amazing experience nutty aroma with thick blackberry and fig finish!
