April 17, 2022 - Deep ruby. Aromas of red cherry, blackberry, spices, smoke. Very fine tannins, medium acidity. Taste of red cherry, toast, dark chocolate. Long.

March 23, 2022 - From a French wine maker who couldn't afford the land in France, moved to Spain, worked at a Bodega in Rioja, and then started making his own wine. This is one of his own vineyards, in the relatively new D.O of Arlanza, from (as others have noted) old vines, and higher altitude with a mix of Temp, Garnacha and a few other bits and bobs that were in the vineyard he purchased and brought back to life (or so says the marketing and tech sheet!) As for the wine, it has a lovely nose: blackberry, some red fruit as it opens up, light touch of vanilla, , nice spice, charred wood and even some meat. On first try it reminded me of a Pegau CNDP. As it opened it lost some of that rustic vibe and softened nicely. The pallet is a different story - very dry tannins. Softens a little over time, but not much. That said it is not overly so, just at that end of the spectrum, which I am a little sensitive to. In summary, a really interesting and quite complex wine. Another good example of high quality interesting and modern Spanish wine at a great price. My wife LOVED it, and we have bought some more. Well worth a try - if you can find it of course. Pretty small production.

December 4, 2021 - Still rather rough tannins. Better integrated the second day, so I would suggest waiting a bit more.

August 29, 2018 - PnP: Ruby, right nose, medium body, strong mineral trunk with dark berry fruit wrapping like a vine around it; persistent finish; as interesting and stimulating as it is on the palate, it feels like much more to come with time; fruits grows in the glass.

January 24, 2018 - Mixed vineyards of mostly Tempranillo, with Garnacha, Bobal and Garnacha Tintorera planted in 1930 and 1950. Low intervention philosophy, organic farming. Native yeasts and no additives. The wine is complex and rich, yet very elegant and light. Complex nose with smoke and sun baked soil, saline aromas of black and red fruits. The palate is broad and deep, structured, sweet yet bone dry. Long grippy tannins, very young. Will be better with more age, but already very tasty.
