January 29, 2022 - Popped and poured as an end of night sipper. A very ripe and fruit forward syrah with a mix of blackberry, black cherry, black plum mixed with some tar and beef jerky notes. Medium acidity, not too much in the tannin department. Smooth mouthfeel but slightly on the thick side. Well made and tasty wine with some typical syrah flavors but still a bit too much ripeness and alcohol for me, even though this wine is relatively balanced.

November 27, 2019 - P&P on night one and rated 90. Was very tight. Two nights later it had opened up a lot. I didn't take detailed notes, but score went up to 92. Definitely decant this wine.

August 25, 2019 - The flavor notes are unchanged from my last note; the structural elements have integrated, drink now. Still a very tasty syrah.

January 13, 2019 - Black fruit, bloody meat, smokey tar - more evocative of a cooler climate Cali syrah, like Monterey or Santa Cruz mountains. Full and delicious, and drinking quite well... for my money Nick and Scott at Torrin produced the finest wines in Paso from this cold shatter vintage.

April 22, 2017 - Had at dinner, really improved over time, with cherry notes. Not too much spice. Can taste the Grenache on the finish.

September 17, 2016 - Popped and poured. Inky purple color. Nose of blueberry, purple florals, lavender and violets and some black licorice. Very nice. Black and blue fruits on the palate with more florals and some spicy toasted oak flavors. Medium+ acid and tannins. Full bodied, palate coating mouthfeel with a slight touch of heat on the finish. Overall a very nice syrah and probably would go well with some bold BBQ meat preparations.

September 3, 2016 - Popped and poured, drank over 2 nights. Deep, rich red fruit aromas. Smooth, almost creamy texture. Lengthy finish. This wine hits no bad notes.

May 30, 2016 - Notes after following for three days open. Appearance is almost fully opaque purple with very slow and lightly stained legs. No sediment. Aroma had some zippy jam and energy at the pop but it faded down to a muted melange of berries and plum with high notes of alcohol after a couple hours of air. Palate is ripe and also highly charged by the alcohol, which is almost overwhelming the rest of the flavors. I would have guessed that there was a dash of Viognier rather than the bit of Grenache. Really nice, soft tannins and some acidic backbone create a good structure but the heat is hard to ignore. My first time with this producer and perhaps not the best vintage to sample. Still a good, enjoyable wine but the lack of nose and the burn in the throat dampens my score. 4+9+15+9= 88
