April 5, 2024 - Thomas’s Northern Rhone extravaganza (Cabotte): Showed beautifully, with quite a bit more interest than the two Sorrels... I guess Hermitage needs time! Still some tannin, indeed. Intense purple fruit, a sense of togetherness, and quite a long finish. Very good (and available for surprisingly little money for the quality, if this is representative).

April 5, 2024 - Syrah at Cabotte (Cabotte): Earthier and much less sweet than either of the ‘4 or ‘07 Greals. It’s retained some really strong acidity and a lovely core of fruit; amazing for almost 30 years old. Pretty youthful - lots of life left! Really lovely and something of a surprise.

March 7, 2024 - Not corked, but clearly flawed, perhaps oxidized. Still good underlying fruit. Hopefully just a bad bottle

February 7, 2024 - On the nose: Smokey BBQ meat, earth and black fruits.
On the palate: Smokey BBQ meat, black fruit, spices, Taggiasca olives and earthy notes. Full but ripe tannins and a long lingering finish.
Drank from magnum. The most savoury/meaty wine I have had so far in my wine journey. Quite far in development but still very much alive and kicking.1 person found this helpful Comment
