June 8, 2019 - Lisa's Big Birthday with Very Good Wine (Riverwoods, IL): Tasted double blind. Tropical, rich and unctuous with enough brightness, energy and acidity most notably on its long finish. I went directly to Condrieu for this.

June 8, 2019 - Delicious, almost unctuous like white wine with notes of apricot, candied lemon and a hint of citrus on the finish. This Northern Rhône wine is absolutely delicious. Massive full mouth feel makes this a very enjoyable wine for all seasons.

June 1, 2019 - I see that this is a special wine, a special Viognier and that the high praises are deserved. But this full-bodied, low-acid and very perfumed style of Viogniers in general are just not my favorite. So don't get my 93 points wrong, this is definitely a brilliant Viognier. Viognier lovers might rate this much higher. I guess that this might pair well with Asian food.

TN: Walking through a field of fresh flowers or into a room with fresh washed laundry. Additionally some terroir aromas with a nice minerality providing somewhat of a lift. Very soft, highly intense, not enough acidity for my tast but in no way cloying. Overall quite harmonious and long.

Decanting: To my surprise, this needed time to open up. One hour in the decanter seems to be right.

May 26, 2019 - A Few Wines with BBQ (Chez Whitehead - Northbrook IL): Small glass, brief note. Stone fruit, candied lemon peel and summer flowers galore with ginger hints. Intense concentration with enough brightness and length to make this so exciting. Best now through 2023.

May 18, 2019 - Opened last night. Gorgeous. Medium yellow with fat legs. The nose is wondrous, filled with lovely, forward yet delicate fruit of honeysuckle, cream and creme brûlée. Full, rich fruit bordering on fat but not over the line. In fact, pretty good delineation of fruit and acid, with a nice tang on the end and a finish that lingers long. 5-14-18-9: 96/100.

May 10, 2019 - Better than my last bottle, which was over a year ago. The oak is better integrated, with the florals and citrus moving to the forefront. Still, not as nuanced and elegant as I would like, but still fun.

March 28, 2019 - Beautiful wine. Full flavor, balanced with ample fruit. Apricot and cutis flavor. Terrific for a dinner party. Had with grilled salmon and barbecue sauce. Perfect.

March 23, 2019 - 4th Saturday group uptown tasting (R&D's): Double blind. Opens with a slight chipemical quality followed by apple blossom, lemon and pear notes. Orchard fruit with nice weight on the palate. Very good, but just didn't show as viognier.

February 1, 2019 - La Tablee: Legends Dinner w E. Guigal & after party (Daniel & SommTime): Served a bit on the chilly side which actually helped it come across as a touch more balanced. This is a more intense wine. Full mouthful. Lots of honey. Some green and grassy notes. There's a hint of sharpness at the end. Drank next to the 2016 and I thought that was maybe in a better spot.
