June 5, 2019 - Clean. And a bit generic. Nothing really sticks out.

June 19, 2018 - Tranluscent, light garnet salmon color with earthy and cherry nose. Tastes are cherries , rhubarb, sassafras, red licorice, and earthy, wet stone. Light texture and delicious.

July 5, 2016 - A really interesting nose on this. Earth, incense, cinnamon. Would have scored much lower initially. Left open for 5 plus hours and this finally came to life. Good body, acid and didn't find the stems to overpower. Would buy again for the right price. Drink now with a good decant or hold.

January 1, 2016 - Some blind 2013 Northern California Pinots to ring in the new year (Rich's, Chicago, IL): Nose: There is a stemmier quality to the nose along with a red fruited base of berries, herbs, red florals, beets, and cherries. There is a creaminess to the fruits to boot, but the herbal base over-rides it at the moment.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium/high acidity and silky tannins. The notes of red fruits, herbs, berries, beets, stemmy tones, cherries, and a touch of cola notes show off well on the attack, but the mid-palate and finish are a bit thin.

Overall: The stem note was persistent, but it wasn't overwhelming. The problem was more on it thinning out on the palate. It's still a good Pinot, but it could really improve if it fleshes out some more.

January 1, 2016 - New Year's Day 2013 Cali Pinot Blind Tasting: Medium translucent ruby. Big nose is exotic and complex with tons of stem character integrated with red fruits. Adrian called beets, which was spot on. On the palate this has an intense initial attack with red fruit and an elixir that is like liquified stems. Really unique and interesting. The mid-palate is more thin and the wine seems to fade. A re-taste after 9 hours and the herbal/stemmy intensity has picked up but it still finishes thin. I'd love this wine if it had a little more fruit richness. Only 50% whole cluster, but shows a lot of stem. 12.3 ABV. Exact same on day two -- tasty and complex attack that fades into a thin mid-palate and finish.
