December 30, 2022 - A well stored bottle that drank wonderfully. A knowledgeable person who drank it upon release noted how fresh and complete it was.
Just wonderful.
December 30, 2022 - Vendome Champagne and Tacos: Notes of coffee, sugar brûlée, balanced acidity and a smooth and weighty mouthfeel. A wonderful bottle and complimented highly by someone who had very fond memories of it upon original release.
October 19, 2021 - Nut fruit, yeast, chinese huadiao, mushroom and herbs. Showing a good amount of secondary note but it still has some acidity. May not be the freshest bottle. 90pt based on this bottle.
October 2, 2021 - Amazingly fresh!
May 28, 2021 - youthful slightly sweet finish.
February 22, 2019 - Very elegant Champagne that's quite mature even out of magnum. Nutty and yeasty flavors with a fine, lithe texture and a hint of oxidation on the finish. Lovely but I somehow think it was at its best a few years ago (at least this bottle). Others liked it more than me. 92-
February 20, 2019 - An evening of vinous gems (Benoit): Spectacular! One of the best Champagnes I've had. A huge nose that leaps from the glass. Very fresh despite its age. Beautiful caramel notes. So delicious
January 13, 2019 - Fresher than the last mag of Churchill, this was really a delight. Broad fleshy, vinous, nutty, brioche but elevated by fresh lemony fruit.
November 3, 2018 - In comfortable maturity now, this shows a broad, rich, brioche nose with mature orchard fruit. The palate is similarly rich but retains enough acidity to retain freshness. Very nice indeed.
November 3, 2018 - Nose: Sweet nose of apricot, sweet almond, brioche, uncooked mushrooms, and baked apple. Palate: entry is nicely creamy, stately and aged. Fruit still nicely together showing baked apple, apricot and lemon oil. Still crisp and mouthwatering. Lovely aged Champagne to start the night.
I have really woken up to aged champagne recently. Something to keep exploring for sure.
