Community Tasting Notes 10

February 25, 2023 - Fruit forward. Tastes like a hot CA bottle. Nothing exceptional to note except the ripe fruit. Pomerol does come through but on a subtle note.

February 26, 2015 - Bordeaux 2000: Left Bank v. Right Bank (Manhattan Beach, CA): A wildcard outside the 2000 vintage theme. Nice, easy to drink. In a good place now.

January 1, 2012 - About as good as my previous bottle. Currants and dark berries, with a bit more leather and soy than I recall. Medium-bodied with a touch more acidity than fruit and well integrated and slightly grippy tannis. Moderately long finish with coffee, chocolate and tobacco. Had with braised short ribs, and found it just a bit light for the fare.

January 1, 2012 - Perhaps expectations were too high. It certainly wasn't a bad wine, but it had an hour before pouring, and was smooth, and unexceptional.

April 7, 2011 - This is seriously good. About 30-60 minutes of air and the right temp (65-70F) brought out a light nose of currant and blackberry pie, with some floral and earth/leather in the background. Incredibly well-rounded and concentrated across the palate - penetrating dark fruit rides the perfect balance of acidity and light, integrated and slighty chalky tannins that lends earthiness and a supple grip. Finish is long and blends cacao, coffee and smoky herbs. Has become substantially more enjoyable with age.
