March 27, 2021 - Second bottle tasted 14 years after the first. Incredible metamorphosis from a tattoo-faced strongman into a ballerina. This wine was fantastic young but I always assumed it would fall apart hard with age. Nope. Everything is well integrated and in balance. Some tannic influence remains on the finish. Pure syrah fruit (red/dark), overlaid on roasted herb and garrigue reminiscent of southern rhone. Lovely synergies from both CdP and Aussie styles. Shocked at the evolution here.

August 17, 2020 - Delicious right from the start. Tannins well integrated, fruit still quite present and alive with red cherry, some sweet floral touches and a balancing acidity. It was a nice pairing with smoked pork spare ribs - heavy black pepper in the rub.

Superior to the 05 vintage which I opened at the same time. More fruit, better balance.

March 16, 2020 - Just out of the bottle - barnyard funk (?), black fruit. Big but not overpowering, integrated tannins. Long-ish finish.

January 18, 2020 - Rich full body with hints of vanilla, licorice and stone fruit. Really well balanced at this point in its life. Can't imagine it will get much better. Good time to drink.

December 24, 2019 - Should have decanted. Opened with hint of vanilla and rock fruit and grew to a more mineral and earthy complexity. Wine has a good 5-10 years left on the shelf.
