    February 24, 2024 - Magnificent! 1 hour decant.

December 30, 2023 - Black as night, with minimal purple bricking in the edges. No visible signs of aging. Bought and stored perfectly since release.

Just so good. Needed 15 min to hit its stride and held there over 2 hr drinking. The CS and CF are marching in harmony. Floral, fruit, some Asian spice, and green herbal notes on the nose, on the palate, plenty of red and black fruit left with some minor earthy notes complimenting it all. Not a hard edge anywhere. 30 sec finish.

One bottle left, will probably drink within 2 years because it’s so damned good now, but plenty of acid to go another 5 yrs minimum.

April 8, 2023 - Simply a classic Napa Cab, not a big fruit bomb, mellowed a bit.

December 17, 2022 - Third and last bottle and this one was the best!

I traveled with the bottle to Swift and Son's in Chicago. Decanted at the table for approximately 45 minutes and consumed over an additional 2 hours. The wine was paired with Swift & Sons Reserve Wagyu Ribeye Cap and 5oz Japanese A5 Wagyu Strip Loin with sides of Bone Marrow and Froie Gras. The wine more than held its own and paired beautifully with the marblizations of each steak and the sides of fat!

The color is deep dark purple. The aromas were intoxicating. I was able to smell the wine from a distance when the waiter poured the bottle into the decanter. Up close, the wine displayed aromas of flowers, black cherries, blackberries, spice, earth and slight cigar box. The palate matched the nose with flavors of blue and black fruits, an array of brown spices, minerality, and hints black icorice. The wine displayed complimentary acidity and fine grained tannins. The tannins were well integrated and paired perfectly with the protein and became slightly more present when the last 1/2 glass wasn't paired with food anymore. It is full bodied with a long finish but it did not have a heavy mouthfeel.

The wine was beautifully balanced and complex. Everything was in perfect harmony on this night paired with this meal. The day was a Fruit/Flower day until 8:00PM.

This wine is up there with one of the best Bevan's I've had and for my palate it's a comfortable 97-99 point wine. It has that extra WOW factor. After reading my previous notes, my bottle in 2021 might have been slightly over decanted resulting in a slightly lower score. Tonight's bottle was singing after approximately 45-60 minutes of air and it remained consistent from start to finish! This bottle is in a great drinking window and should remain in the window for several years to come.

September 24, 2022 - The first of my ‘14 EEs bought on release. Drank essentially as a PnP with a shake decant in the bottle.

Initial nose of bourbon and cherry coke, which faded quickly into smoky incense and cinnamon/nutmeg spice cake, spiced black tea.

Intense explosive flavors on the palate, yet balanced and precise in its delivery. Pipe tobacco, black fruited delight-black cherry, black raspberry, blackberry and associated berry liquer all marching in harmony with cola and anise bringing up a long finish. After 60 min, Tench started to dominate more with blood orange and a hint of orange rind appearing. Gone by 90 min with no fall off.

Oak and tannins have completely integrated. What a great wine! Not quite the WA100 just yet, a smidge, a touch of heat as it warmed holding this back from perfection.
