November 8, 2019 - Wish it were possible to buy more of this. Fig and spice layered on note of raisin and all wrapped up in a wonderful finish.

April 10, 2019 - Rich and layered with honey and raisin aromas along with nutty undertones. Unctuous and sweet with mouth-watering acidity and persistent finish.

March 12, 2018 - One of the best examples of the well made commandaria in the traditional style. 14% Alcohol here albeit unfortified still less than previous years.
This is the 3rd of their vintages and definitely improving on the elegance and this is brighter, softer but still with the hallmarks of a sweet wine. Nice nutty feel, dried fruits, still good acidity, light raisiny touches. Solid 92

February 24, 2018 - Wow, this wine is a revelation. By far the best wine from this part of the world I've ever had, and the best sweet wine I've had from anywhere in a long time. I say sweet (which it is) but that is balanced by a remarkable oxidative tang. It's extraordinarily long, seductively luscious, complex yet immediately enjoyable. And a beautiful dark gold in the glass. A wonderful experience, reminiscent of a great Vin Santo. 14%, cork. (Wow.)

January 9, 2017 - This is an exceptional example of an unfortified Commandaria from 85% Xynisteri and 15% Mavro. Fully mature grapes are dried in the sun for 12 days. This shrivels them, reducing the aqueous content of the grapes. It also markedly concentrates sugars, flavour compounds and acids.

The resulting wine weighs in at an unctious 207 g/l of residual sugar and 12.7% abv. The perception of sweetness, and this is a very sweet wine, is deftly balanced by freshness and layered complexity. Dates, liquorice, caramel and cooked orange notes, with exceptional poise. A fascinating, beguiling multi-layered wine, that really deserves some more attention. At £17 per 50cl this incredible value, I will definitely be buying a few cases to put in the back of the cellar.
