September 13, 2017 - Nose is simple dark plums and black grapes. The palate is also fairly simple, with notes of dark plums, coffee. Acidity balances the alcohol and the tannins remind me of Concord grape skins. Nice and simple drink for simple Italian fair.

August 8, 2017 - Obscure varietal absent from the OCW. Deep ruby in the glass with a slight edge variation to garnet, dark fruits and cacao on the nose, palate is balanced and vibrant with lively acidity and muted tannins, integrated fruits with black plum, currant, hint of licorice leading to a thin wood/earthy finish. Nice. Indigenous to Lazio, if you see this varietal grab it, you may not see it again.
