May 2, 2024 - Crunchy red berries, oak, juniper. Not sophisticated but has aged pretty well for its class. Still lively on the tongue.
December 5, 2021 - Deep red color, almost opaque. Nose of plum and wood. On the palate, an alcoholic attack with lots of [muted] fruit - first, plum, then sweet cherry, cranberry, swirling with creamy vanilla and mineralogy. Medium long finish with more muted fruit, vanilla and a touch of oak.
Interesting to read the Cellar Tracker notes from 2017 -2018 tastings, wondering if the wine was “sleeping” at the time. Also interesting to Read Robert Parker Wine Advocate notes, and his reviewer’s comments on a vertical they tasted, where the wines that were “ugly ducklings” on release turned out to be “beautiful swans” with some cellar age.
September 17, 2020 - I was expecting more here due to the 91 rating from WS and the single vineyard pedigree. Plus it comes wrapped in tissue paper! To me, however, this was like many Cali cabernets at this price point. An everyday drinker but nothing particularly memorable.
April 16, 2020 - Pretty flat at this point.
March 14, 2020 - good. Nice solid Cab.
May 29, 2019 - Developing nicely. With 1/2hr decant, nice sweet red fruit & spice with medium length flavors & complexity. For me, typical Maipo Valley flavor profile.
January 4, 2019 - I agree with the naysayers here.
August 19, 2018 - solid, but overrated. dark fruit, loam, some oak. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing special,
August 3, 2018 - Hard to believe this was a WS Top 100 wine. Dwindling core of fruit with strawberry, cherry elements. Drink now.
February 19, 2018 - PnP, with stereotype notes of green bell pepper and cumin on the nose. The narrative changes on the palate, as the flavors fan out, leading with black raspberry and currant, supported by a dash of smoked meat and cumin. Fresh, with mouthwatering acidity and a skosh of tannins gliding along the finish. This is distinctive, and a hell of a QPR for only $17.
