July 9, 2023 - Decanted for about an hour. Nose of bramble, raspberry, strawberry, and a bit of caramel. Medium bodied, balanced, a bit low on the acidity, and very fruity. Palate follows the nose and adds in some mild sweet baking spices with nutmeg leading the way. Mild tannic structure that brings in a bit of minerals and much needed structure. The finish is long and driven by the caramel and bramble notes.

This is on the edge of drinking where I want it to be for myself. It's straight forward and enjoyable - but this is not complex or deep. As I sip on it longer, I keep revising my score lower - It's good but lacks the nuance as they do young. Esola is in that drink in the 3-5 year range for me. I'll keep buying these, since they are a great contrast to Easton Zins. But the Easton Zins are much longer living and more complex.

June 11, 2023 - This was just ok. Brambly cranberry and raspberry fruit but this is lacking depth, and a significant amount of heat on the finish really sets this back a few notches. I had the 15 a couple years ago and really liked it, but this definitely paled in comparison. Maybe the Esola is better younger?? And this is coming from someone who prefers a significant amount of age on almost all of his Bedrock's.

April 29, 2023 - Think I waited to long on these. Nice enough wine, even with no noticeable varietal characteristics, and, for an Amador zin, there was pleasant and surprising lack of funk, raisins, or sweetness. In fact, it was borderline delicious. However, there was an almost total lack of structure. On day one, it didn't stand up to a steak sandwich, and on day two, it didn't stand up to pulled pork. Right now, it's suitable only as an apertif or with mild cheeses.

January 31, 2022 - Tasty, balanced style Zinfandel. Beautiful aromatics. Bedrock signature balance.
