Community Tasting Notes 20

December 6, 2022 - Shared with friends at a holiday dinner: the first reaction was "smooth"; another was "rich." This wine has matured very nicely: big nose with apricot and other stone fruit, tiny hint of mineral. Lush mouthfeel with more apricot, pear ripe fruit. The only flaw is a woody note on the finish, which was unexpected. My last bottle but if I had more, I would start drinking them; seems like it is at or even a bit past its peak.

May 7, 2021 - Excellent FLX Riesling. Aging well w/even better days ahead.

January 17, 2021 - PNP. Very aromatic nose, lemon, peach, pear, lovely. Less fruit on the palate, more minerals and stone fruit. I wanted to like this more than I did.

January 13, 2021 - Prior bottle was a bit over seven months ago and my notes were consistent. White peach and white apple/pear on the nose along with floral qualities and some background tropical notes. Medium bodied with white apple and white peach upfront, broadening nicely through the middle with yellow and white peach and a variety of tropical notes. These were neatly balanced by the tart orange and lemon notes on the backside. The acidity provided contrast on the backside as well as liveliness throughout. The fruit overall felt very expressive, but balanced - the acidity and tart notes did their job quite well. This was really enjoyable to drink; dry but with a lot of complexity going on and all the elements in very good balance. Wish I had more (this was my final bottle) and while it still has several years ahead of it, I think it's showing so well at present, that drinking over the next 2-3 years to enjoy it at this high level is recommended.

May 27, 2020 - Prior bottle was just over 14 months ago and this wine was a clear step up; in line with prior bottles. Having again tasted the 2014 immediately prior gave me even more clarity. White apple, white peach and floral notes on the nose with an undercurrent of pear. Medium bodied with a combination of apple and peach, both upfront and through the middle. The pear note (more tart) remains, but it's in the background while the peach is more prominent. It's a crunchy, white peach, evolving to a slightly richer, yellow peach. Mid-body feels more open than previously with the upfront white orchard notes blending even better with the richer middle. Still shows tart orange and lemon on the backside, and along with minerals on the finish, provides structure and length. As compared to the 2014, this showed better mid-body depth and complexity. This drinks like peak, but with the structure to hold this level for another few years. Given how well it's currently showing, next bottle for me might be as soon as July or November 2020.
