    July 31, 2021 - Dark, looks heavy.
Cookies and coffee on the nose.
First sip, rich and thick, but smooth as silk.
Flavors fly by like a flash of skin from a striptease artist.
    Earthly, burnt ends, smoldering peat.
Very satisfying, could sip this all night.

June 21, 2021 - Open nine hours on the counter, though from the nose it might have been ready at open. Pours pitch dark, toasty on the nose with notes of dark cherry, blackberry liquor, concrete and wet stone. Balances meaty richness and brambly dark berries on the palate. Kirsch, tar, tobacco, caramel. A subtle garrigue note lurks in the background. Rich, mouth coating but deftly balanced. Held up great late in the evening on the second evening too. My first Reva so not sure how it evolves but it’s in an excellent spot now.

June 3, 2021 - Forget what I wrote last time. This Alban Reva has now entered its Awesome phase. What a difference a couple years made. No rush to drink this vintage as it will probably be great for the next decade. One thing I will say about Alban is that for better or worse, Alban Reva is like the Krug Grande Cuvée of syrahs. It’s “boring” in that every vintage tastes similar and excellent. Sine Qua Non, by contrast, tastes different every vintage. I happen to love the Reva profile so it brings a smile to my face every time I open a bottle. And, as a disclaimer to my score, I do tend to rate Alban higher than most.

March 27, 2021 - Sometimes with Reva, I've found it has a limited bottle life. Not so with this one. Alluring bouquet of dark fruit and chocolate and forest floor, tastes of blackberry.

January 21, 2021 - Popped and poured. Amazing blueberry compote and luxurious and complex black cherry. Exactly what I expected and then a great drinking window. Having said that, will wait another year to try my next bottle and see how this gem evolves.
