January 27, 2024 - Holy Moly Amarone (DP's, Goose Hollow, Portland OR): This is just a thrill ride of a nose. There is so much depth and layering as it fills the glass with tones of crushed rocks, plums, dark red cherries, raisins, chocolate, liqueur notes, spice cake, blueberries, chocolate cake, rose petals, and some violets. The Full bodied feel is silky and refined with crisp, medium+ acidity and youthful, medium+ tannins. The structure clearly has some youth, but what's here right now is what I expected when it was revealed. The quality of the producer is easily shining through as this is just a real stunner and just pure joy.

November 19, 2023 - Decanted 2 hours - not nearly enough. This improved a lot by staying open for about 24 hours. Notes are from day 2.

Nose is refined, expressive, with raisins, plums, oak, spice. Palate is incredibly complex: medium+ acidity, raisins, licorice, blackberries, cocoa beans. Grippy tannins, very long ending with cedar and incense lingering on.

I am a big fan of Amarone in general - but this was wow. Day 1 was good but too powerful. Day 2 was great.

Still in a very primary phase, I will give my 2 other bottles 4-5 years before revisiting. Incredible wine - I now get all the hype around Quintarrelli. 96 today; 98 potential. If opening now, please, PLEASE, decant for at least 8 hours.

July 28, 2023 - Lovely perfumed Nose. Great structure, cherry, rose petals, sweet spices, caramel, chocolate. Good balance despite the 16.5% (!!) alcohol level. Quite dry and smooth. Long, inky finish showing different layers of complexity which grow and develop as this opens with air.

Pleased to have tried this as I would not usually choose this myself.

May 7, 2023 - One of the best wines I had the joy and opportunity to drink. An awesome Amarone and hard to describe with words.

June 21, 2022 - On my round birthday this is as good as it can get. Not much to be added to the Quintarelli myth, transcending Amarone to the fourth dimension, with spectacular extraction and a bonfire of aromas, of black currant, cherries, dried plums and figs, chocolate, portwine, caramel, toffees, liquorice, espresso, cloves, sweet curry, nuts, which are never ending on your palate... Highest rating I ever gave.

June 17, 2022 - I am not capable of evaluating this wine. There is a painful beauty on the nose mature Port and lovely dead flowers. And the palate follows suit and has a playful amari nite on the finish. Then this just quickly gets to be a hot mess in a still beguiling way. Even open hours. And then this just slowly saps the soul of energy making me want an existential nap. And still beautiful. There is nothing wrong with this wine. It is just too too.

November 9, 2020 - Very powerful and sharp in the aromas. I'm the boss he shouts! Distinctive fruit of plum, black currant, blackcurrant syrup, chocolate, nut and deep deep saltiness that spreads complexity. Nice full-bodied wine and surprisingly fresh against what 16.5% alcohol should tell. Deep concentrated plum, fresh black currant, nut and pretty saltiness. This is depth and soul, but still is not for everyone. But for the Amarone fan, this is joy! 94 points.
