December 19, 2023 - Marionberries in the nose. Still quite dark. Medium+ body. Tannic structure is evident and needed about 45 minutes to release some of the fruit which has begun to transition. Although this is a big wine, the blend - 50% Cab Sauv, 25% each of Merlot and Cab Franc - are well integrated and show a rich nicely nuanced note of dark berry fruit with some earthy/gravelly note. Perhaps this is still 5 years from its potential but excellent right now.

June 25, 2023 - Agee with GMBDDS that age has done this wine well. It was a little big on day one and perfect to begin with in day. More bottles in cellar and will ask the winemaker for his opinion and will post on the next bottle. I do know that they are meant to age.

April 10, 2022 - I believe some bottle age does Cadence well. This has red currant and plum. The three varieties show their character. The tannins are integrated but also drying. Likely at or near peak.

October 17, 2019 - Well crafted, but lacking complexity at the end. Perhaps a few more years in the bottle....

September 9, 2019 - Dark fruit, blackberry and plum, mixed with tar, tannins, spice....oh yeah, and everything nice. The dryness in the wine along with the tannins mean that Cab Girl likes this better than Zin Boy, though we were close in score and both really liked it. Great mouth feel, long finish....oh yeah, and those tannins. With lots of complexity, this is a excellent red blend!!

September 4, 2018 - I'm cellaring some 2014 Cadence wines. I saw a bottle of Tapteil on special at my local grocery store, and bought it so I could check in on my other bottles.

This winery is known for long-lived wines that are tight early, and this was no exception. First sips after opening were like trying to drink a brick wall!

After a few hours of air, the wine settled down and was enjoyable to drink, while being still very tannic and tight. There's going to be some nice fruit, and herbaceousness from the Cabernet Franc.

Still, your 2014 Cadence wines NEED another five years. They should be pretty special then.
