Community Tasting Notes 10

March 18, 2021 - Opened after a corked 1979 La Dominique had to be discarded.

Right bank merlot fleshiness coupled with still impressive tannins. A bit like a really big, friendly dog who doesn't realize he's big and insists on jumping up and licking your face with a rough tongue. Impossible not to like even if you might wish he weighed a little less. Very good wine though it did turn a bit more austere with air.

December 24, 2016 - brief note. cork intact. Fully mature in color and nose. at first this seemed tired and ascerbic, but with a little air it fleshed out and showed broader shoulders. was a delight with our standing rib roast. get yourself some red meat and drink this if you have it.....hanging on to life IMHO. Thanks Ed!

March 14, 2008 - New user to Cellar Tracker - realized I needed to taste one of these bottles based on the Drinking Window; ruby purple color with brownish red hues around the edges; Pleasant nose of vanilla, oak and minerals; medium body; pepper, ripe dark berry fruit and smokey oak well balanced with the smooth tannins; finishes fast but pleasant; improved with several hours of aeration; probably as good as it will get; was much better than I expected.

May 8, 2007 - "Wine for Dummies" opinion - Kinda like a 40-year-old-ex-jock...probably was pretty good in it's prime, but now is just a watered down shell of what once was. Still had a lot more complexity than most cheap table wines of today though! Just no staying power remaining.
