July 10, 2020 - shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of another week of SIP (Stay in Place/Sip In Place) due to covid-19. we do not drink a lot of syrah but i was impressed with this wine at the point of purchase in 2016. tonite, we paired the wine with Omaha filet mignon. the wine showed well on its own and also stood up well to the food. LSMFT. round, firm and fully packed. generous dark fruit on the nose and the palate. some earhiness. perfectly balanced. most enjoyable now but can probably hold well for at least another year. fine sediment adheres to the bottle and some lands in the glass. suggest decanting to avoid this. overall, the wine is a winner. wish i had purchased more.

April 3, 2020 - Excellent showing! Harmoniously integrated, ripe, savory black fruits. Juicy tannins, present but lovely. Win, win, win.

March 27, 2020 - Drinking perfectly right now. Still a little bit of residual alcohol left on this, but not even close to over powering the chocolate tones of this delicious wine

November 9, 2018 - The bottle aging has softened this wine. Last tasted in 2014. It has now lost the tannic bite and the flavors have integrated really well - by that I mean that no one flavor characteristic is dominant, they all play well together! I can't recall if this was the first year Anthony Yount was the winemaker for Denner, or if it was the year before he became winemaker. Doesn't matter! It was very enjoyable!

April 15, 2018 - Real soft mouthfeel compared to other syrah's I have had of late. Round fruit including fig and prune. Tobacco leaf mid palette with more of that and some vanilla on this finish.

April 12, 2018 - Deeper-than-deep garnet color, with the dark fruit still front and center. Feels more cool-climate than Denner usually plays, but that could be because it's got age on it. Tannins have softened, but plenty of savory juiciness remains. Won't change your life, but you don't throw it out of bed.

July 11, 2017 - Opened and poured about an hour later. A tad dry, perhaps past its prime. Good spicy, savoury flavors. Good match for spicy Korean Beef Bulgogi with soba noodles. I expected more, thus my theory that this one is past its prime. About the same profile on Day 2 so it holds up well.

February 20, 2017 - Pretty straightforward Syrah. Medium body. Good fruit and balance. Nice entry level Syrah, if nothing particularly noteworthy about it.

November 4, 2016 - Quite pleasant, a slight savory note, with what feels like more of a cool-climate profile. Feels quite traditional. Strangely it seems better right out of the bottle vs. two or three hours later. Good concentration, but maybe missing the nth degree of complexity or anything striking.

August 31, 2016 - Last bottle, PNP. A little berry and earthiness on the nose. Initial palate, fruit forward (red berry), and then the mid palate delivers some smokiness and meat. Medium finish. Very well balanced, nice wine. Drinking well now, but suspect this will continue to deliver for several more years.
