April 27, 2020 - Very disappointed. Like rotten vinegar.
November 26, 2019 - Blue and purple fruit, with asphalt and black tea tannin in the background. It shows good structure and air softens it considerably, making it fruitier and more approachable. Solid.
November 2, 2019 - Drink with BBQ
October 4, 2019 - Enjoyable enough, a nice peppery note with mildly raisiny dark fruit- didn't get any of the "meaty" notes people mention here although they are plentiful in his higher-end Syrahs. The palate was a little too weak with extremely low acid, although it had some good fruit.
I'm a little surprised at the quality here which medium at best, even for the price- I consider his CS Cab and even Velvet Devil to be among the very best of their price range. Maybe it was an off vintage, but for $15 I've had much tastier/fresher syrah.
July 7, 2019 - Big and meaty, with aromas of liquorice, bacon and spice, then flavours of ripe plum, black pepper, savory notes and a pleasing red cherry ending.
May 24, 2019 - Pop n pour holiday weekend wine. Fruity, low tannins, enjoyable with barbecue meat.
April 22, 2019 - Meaty, beaty, big and bouncy! Great with barbecued food.
March 26, 2019 - A bit thin. Light notes of blackberry, pepper, anise. Pop n pour weeknight wine.
February 20, 2019 - Light, wispy nose, with hints of black smoke, leather, and meat. Palate feels thin and shallow, with strong (candied and artificial) flavours of cola, anise, blackcurrant, and rhubarb.
February 17, 2019 - Drank with pizza. Actually went well. Nothing great but acceptable wine.
