June 10, 2022 - Floral bouquet, deep dark red in the glass. Dark fruit flavors. Medium finish. Tannins are round with nice acidity.

January 10, 2022 - PnP - big mistake! Initial alcohol/petrol aromas. This blew off after an hour to reveal more cranberry/strawberry leather and earthy aromas and flavors.
Palate was firm and muscular with red currants, red berries, cedar and smoke. Still fairly tannic on the finish with angular red fruits. Next bottle I will decant > 1 hour to provide more air.

    September 22, 2021 - Old library smell...leather, musty and dusty...tobacco and spices.
Flavours of candied red berries. Full bodied and textured with a medium to long dry finish. Great with food. Drink over the next 2 years.

January 20, 2021 - Should you be interested, I’ve uploaded info for this vintage which you can peruse at your leisure. 😉

≈1:10 hr decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then capped; NO sediment; Private Preserve after Day 1.

N: Blk rasps, poss straws, elements of rhubarb, something herbal, with choc coming on

P: Med body; NICE, almost frt met by an astringent pucker (the puckerish part definitely being dominant) which slowly works its way into & through the LONG, palate cleansing finish with a TANGY/swtness (60:40) to the VERY fine, fairly inoffensive tannins. Nice by itself, it was definitely better with the Creamed Kraut (HmMd), Grilled Pk Chops, & Mashed Potatoes.

// Day 2: Intensity dropped markedly aromatically, + P showing > astringency vis-a-vis the frt, so held disappointingly. However, it did acceptably with Chx Parmesan (Take Out), the entrée bringing out an anise element in the wine.

∑: While not tired (it will make at least its 10th), it does appear to be a wine for consumption THE day it is opened -- or < time in the decanter than what I gave it. With that proviso, my EXC (92,93/100 using that metric), otherwise probably EXC-. 14.3% ABV [As of late Jan '21, wine-searcher still shows 3 sources @ $62 & $65].

    Note: 1st tasted on 4/29/17.
