March 10, 2024 - Fantastic Bourgogne Rouge. Even better on its second day open. Pure and elegant, dark raspberries, lots of matiere, a strong bitter note which was maybe a bit too much on the first night but had integrated very well in day two. Should age well but no need to wait

March 9, 2024 - On day one the nose was pretty kaleidoscopic but the palate somewhat rough; day two was not quite the reverse but the cost of the palate levelling out was certainly the loss of some aromatic interest. Nonetheless, an intense and beguiling wine with a pretty serious profile. Ripe red and black fruit, smoke, florals, and some herbal notes. Plenty of structure in terms of both tannin and acidity, with good fruit intensity on the palate - I think this still has quite some time ahead of it. 91 but potential to improve.

February 8, 2024 - This is my 3rd bottle of the 15 and to me this extraordinary for a BR. Easily higher quality than other wines in higher price brackets.
Beautiful red and dark cherries, notes of charcuterie, spice all supported by excellent acidity. Loads of life left and just an example of what quality burgundy is

May 25, 2023 - Aging nicely with everything seemingly well integrated at this point (though it still has years to go). Cherry and cranberry, as well as some earthy notes I don’t recall from prior bottles. Great Bourgogne.

October 29, 2022 - But for the Bourgogne designation, this is village level Chambolle. Drinking very nicely upon opening but further smoothes out & becames more aromatic over 2 hrs prior to dinner as it slow-oxed in 2 Riedel Burg glasses & in btl w/ the cork out. Semi translucent ruby color. A floral nose w/ berries & spice accents. Palate is textbook Chambolle w/a caressing elegance. Then the purity & intensity of a top-notch producer like Barthod kicks in. Mix of red & dark fruit along w/ spice & earth smothering you in Chambolle heaven. 13% alc. Only downside, there's no longer any sneaking up on Gisland Barthod for a steal. Even the Bourgogne sourced pretty well was $60 online in CA. Again, the actual wine in the btl, performs at village level plus. Doubt I can find more '18s? If I see it, I'll buy it.

September 24, 2022 - Needed two hours after opening, gained much weight and fruit from a skinny bitter start.. red berries, bacon, medium body. Nice!

September 16, 2022 - No note taken, but I remember being very happy with this - even with my expectations through the roof after a stunning (last-bottle-from-a-case) 2014 BR. At the beginning of a long drinking window, brilliant for its level, and very good value for £25 per bottle paid.

May 31, 2022 - This was excellent. Quite serious, still young, with fruit, dark berries, and savory, meaty notes, which give it depth. Tannins are also present. This has years to go.

April 23, 2022 - What a wine. It has the weight of a village cru. The texture of the Chambolle appellation. Ripe but still with sparkling fruit and acidity. Top notch generic Burgundy
