April 16, 2019 - Still a little raw and wild aromas but still seduces with fresh cherry fruit, light blackcurrant, stone, leather and clear mushroom flavor. Medium to Medium + full-bodied wine that has an tendency to tighten up. Great fruit feeling with cherries, fruit peel, stone, dark mocha and this very clear herbale feel that does not come from a cool vintage, on the contrary. Still on the delicate side, but as mentioned, it begins to tighten more and is wider than a year ago. Impressively good quality for the price and will still only improve over the years. 92 points. For now. (94P)

April 13, 2019 - never opened much, with long decant. More of a mid-range chianti

April 7, 2019 - Still so great but declined over the last year. Still it is perfumed and better than most. Aromatically sour after a 3 hour decant. On the pallete it feels past its prime. It is in the mid pallete that this wine shines. Long and lingering notes of mulberry and cherry fruit. Finish is stinging with cherry tannins and acid. The wine is weird. I thought it could Improve but it is in a strange spot. I think it would improve given this phase.

March 30, 2019 - Continue to be impressed by this lovely, feminine, easy drinking Brunello. Roses, sweet berries, a hint of varnish, and baking spices populate the nose and raspberries, red hard candy, and black cherries dominate the palate at first, with some lovely moist earth and leather make up the secondary. Keep buying this at under $50 a bottle, you'll have a hard time finding many wines better at that price point.

    March 30, 2019 - So disappointing.

Having visited Altesino, I remember a delicate, silky, perfumed Brunello (maybe my memory is off?).

This was an over-oaked leathery affair.

Perhaps I caught the wine in a dormant period, but I was expecting a lot more from it. The nose in particular was disappointing.

Don't get me wrong; it was good compared to the average wine. But this producer has a reputation of above-average Brunello.

If you have bottles, I suggest waiting 6 months to a year (at least) before drinking any.
