June 23, 2021 - * Previously Coravin Tapped in April
I love this wine, but for some reason, this one was thin with nice advancement, but a bit flat. It could be the coravin effect. Never had this happen before, but shit does happen. No rating, but its worth sampling another soon to see if I need to pound remaining bottles. Lucky me!
March 5, 2021 - As a red wine, this is a 91, and as a Chianti, probably a 93...Room to improve some with secondary notes. This is always so well balanced and so amazing for the price. A perfect mid week wine to drink while cooking without destroying your palate before a light meal. Drink
November 24, 2020 - Medium garnet wirh brown tones, medium transparent. Nose is earthy, funky boxwood, spicy cigar wrapper, sandalwood, pungent vanilla, cinnamon, savory herbs. Silky mouth feel, flavors stay baking chocolate, vanilla, tomato, blackberry, black cherry, baked yeast, dry pecorino with salinity. Long finish with some heat.
April 6, 2019 - Deep dark ruby in color. Full, fragrant & aromatic nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & currants with overtones earthy/dusty, orange rind & floral notes, tobacco, herbs, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & dark currants with spices, herbs, minerals, a touch of oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & airing at present but has some potential for further development with additional aging.
April 1, 2019 - When I crave a bit of Chianti, this is where I need to quench my craving with luscious cherry, wrapped in so much rusticity and old world earth, perfumed with that distinct tobacco pungent bouquet. Long and strong, this is yet another solid vintage for this masterful producer, delivering wines that rock at bargain prices, over and over and over. This is not good, its Grrrrrreat! Drink or HOLD
March 3, 2019 - Very nice aromatic nose - both fresh and savory, if that makes sense. On the palate, large-scaled Chianti character, lots of fruit and structure, with abundant savory notes and some barrel influence.
Tasted over 2 days - consistent throughout.
February 27, 2019 - DnP. Well balanced and in the beginning of it’s drinking window. Good fruit and structure. Drink now - 2025. Getting better with airation.
January 11, 2019 - Well made wine for a great price, jst too much of that sangiovese bite.
January 10, 2019 - Seemed like this last bottle evolved really well. Still has lots of aging potential but in a nice place now.
December 25, 2018 - Bottle notes one day after opening (half bottle recorked in fridge). Bruised dark cherries, chinese spice, orange rind. Loamy earth and leather. A serious a wine as the dude on the label. Nice menthol and balsamic notes. Classico! 24$ Tasty for now. Maybe 2020-2025 or more ?
