December 27, 2023 - This wine is very enjoyable if you approach it as a Pinot Noir and not a Zin. I understand that makes no sense but you'll have to trust me. It's drinking very well right now but with the cherry notes and elegance it is not a heavy typical Turley. Don't be disappointed that it's not a big Turley Zin, appreciate the fact that Turley made a killer Pinot using Zin grapes

April 20, 2023 - As others have said, not a typical Turley. Definitely some herbaceousness/green notes, nice nose, we don't see this getting better from here so we'll drink our last bottle within the year. Drinks a lot like a Pinot Noir, which is fine when you're expecting Pinot but maybe not so much when you want a Zin.

April 15, 2023 - I liked the lithe, smoke, zinberry. Lighter red, some pepper and a moderate length finish.

April 25, 2022 - This is not your typical Turley…drinks with a lot more elegance and nuance compared to the bold, opulence I have come to expect.

Black cherry, cedar, pencil shavings, cinnamon, dried flowers/potpourri, slight herbaceous quality. Palate is bright, good acidity and gossamer tannins. The alcohol is there, but I served this around cellar temp and quickly forgot this was a high octane Zinfandel.

I almost always enjoy Turley and there’s definitely a place in my cellar for some flashy, fruity, hedonistic bottles. But this was an unexpected surprise. Should hold well for at least another 3-4 years.

February 13, 2022 - Love most Turley's but not this. All the typical Turley traits until the finish - tart even a touch of a bitter aftertaste. Almost green herbal notes.

January 22, 2022 - Concentrated black cherry, dark berry, and a little strawberry. There's a southern Rhone influence from the Mondeuse, Cinsault, and Carignane field blend. Its moderately tannic with a moderately bitter and dry finish and a some graphite. IMO, there seems a bit much green stem flavor from whole cluster fermentation.

August 10, 2021 - Big, rich, nice spice, dark fruit, great brambly Zin nose with some tannic. Dusty and earthy. Nice balanced acidity. A bit of alcoholic heat on the nose. Lots of dark fruit. Full bodied. Med long finish, dry.

April 16, 2021 - A bunch pnp'd at lunch. Red fruit on the nose. The palate was dark cherry, plum, sweet pipe tobacco and a hint of spice. Finish was moderate in length.

November 27, 2020 - Favorite Zin of all time — red fruit spectrum, spice, but more than anything a wonderful combination of depth and bright lift. Crazy that a 15% abv wine can come off so fresh. Having had many turleys over the years, I have liked most but never loved one until this Kirschenmann. Wonderful!
