September 20, 2022 - Last bottle of a case. Every one was fantastic, and I will miss this wine.

January 24, 2022 - Nice nose. Great balance. A nice mid weight syrah, somewhere between the extremes in size, fruitiness and savoriness. I don't know why I don't buy more of them

January 14, 2022 - I have to stop opening these. They are very delicious, and yet still not quite ready.

May 5, 2021 - I probably didn’t give this enough of a rest after shipping but it was still damn good. Lots of red and blue fruit along with some olives and those meaty, funky flavors that make me love the Northern Rhône so much. The tannins are in a good state now, but I think this wine is still on an upward trajectory. I definitely drank my 2016’s of this too soon.

I’ve consumed over 50 bottles from Campesino and every one has been delicious and a silly bargain. If you’re reading this and you haven’t tried one of Macario’s wines, you need to need to get some ASAP.

January 31, 2021 - Surprised to not see any tasting notes in the last 4 years for this wine - the great news is that this is holding up well, and was a nice reminder of why Campesino (Las Madres Syrah, Steel Plow Grenache, Baybos) has become our go-to house wine. Gave it an hour in the cellar to open up, and boy, did it ever - walked in to a room entirely full of floral notes! Day 1 on the palate showed blueberry, tart cherry and bell pepper, with the pepper fading and blueberry/cherry predominating on day 2. Paired wonderfully with Kalbi-stile beef short ribs. In a great spot now and definitely several more years to go.

November 2, 2017 - Hate to crowd the reviews but this was one of those rare wines that really made me want to pay attention. It's incredibly elegant and rewarding.

October 16, 2017 - Pop and pour. Aromatically, it was really inviting and quite expressive from the get-go. On the palate, it seemed tight and closed. One almost had to search for the flavors. I've really enjoyed Campesino syrahs in the past. Time can't hurt.

July 10, 2017 - Probably an off bottle, but this one was pretty acidic and didn't have the depths that I've noticed in the past. No rating.

February 9, 2017 - Deep ruby red with a opaque core. A little nutty to start with some olive tapenade and slightly floral in the finish. Balanced acidity with moderate tannins (5/10). Medium bodied with cherry cola and a little perfume. Long finish with a touch of savory notes. Drink till 2027.
