February 27, 2023 - Very nice burgundy. Earthy with good underlying fruit and concentration. Still has good tannic structure but very delicious and complex with a bit of air now.

October 6, 2021 - Chinese food tonight with a broad selection of sushi, peking duck and other various dishes made me think Burgundy….. I pulled the 2015 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru “Clos Du Chapitre” Domaine Follin-Arbelet. This wine is spectacular. Cherry, tobacco, vanilla, caramel, earth, and dark chocolate on the nose… the fruit skates on the mid palate like an olympic gold medalist. Silky tannins just enrich the mouthfeel with just a hint of oak. -DD94

September 5, 2021 - Decanted two hours ahead of smoked, home-made split pea soup with ham, crushed peppercorn, and parmesan. Cloudy violet color with a ruby hue. The nose brings pronounced barnyard funk, fresh cut violets, strawberry blossoms, potpouri, grape lavender, mint, allspice, and cherry cobbler. The palate is medium, square, compact, textured, and juicy, bringing high-toned Rainer cherry notes juxtaposed against deep huckleberries, blueberries, and rhubarb, followed by black tea, wood smoke, hints of cloves, and lingering candied raspberry notes into an extended, tannic finish. This is a beauty ahead of its prime, so drink 2023-2033. Technical score: 94. Enjoyment score: 92.

December 15, 2019 - Nicely balanced burgundy with elements of earth and minerals backed by dark fruit and decent acidity. Probably will improve for a few years.

March 14, 2019 - Excellent. Nice backbone of acid and tannins. Drinking well now, and shows well after time in glass. Stone fruit, cherry and a hint of oak. Full bodied but medium weight on palate.

December 18, 2017 - this is a great wine that is young. It is also a wine that shows well now. Nice nose. The wine needs an hour or more in the glass. It has the full flavor of a CA pinot with the balance and dimension of a high end burgundy. Flavors of berries, oak, vanilla, and nutmeg.
