March 20, 2021 - Two hours of air. This wine needs more bottle age. It is lovely, but still confined.
    Plenty of fruit and promise.

    January 25, 2021 - Deep ruby.

Nose: Huge roasted alderwood, cassis, violet, chocolate brownie.

Mouth: Shows a broad, fleshy fruit core of cassis, black cherry, and pureed loganberry just before a rigid bolt of singed alder, roasted black tobacco, ganache, and savory cast iron clamps down. Finish surges again on another wave for round two as it opens up, keeping this from being on total lockdown, but this is still pretty packed-in at this time.

Overall: Muscular and powerful, this barrels through but keeps poise throughout, staying surprisingly drinkable for all of its brawn: fruit is pure and focused, and tannins are very polished. Still quite a bit of meld is to be had in the years to come, as the flavors remain chunky in texture for now. All in all, this is a brawler that still tries to dazzle, and should be able to pull that off. Will be enjoyable to watch unfold. Drink 2024 - 2038.

    94.

November 24, 2020 - Coravin fun - Talbot (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Cream, vanilla, plums, toast, blackcurrant, almost a touch of black cherry, sweet spice, polished oak, clay. Juicy acidity is on the cusp of medium plus intensity, tannins are grippy but pleasing and go hand in hand with the fruit. All travel long. Still a puppy but balanced and promises much over the coming years.
