Community Tasting Notes 5

  • Neecies Likes this wine:

August 31, 2019 - Big and heavy. Ample Rocks funk with tar, charred meat, beef boullion and loamy earth that could use more acidity--interesting to drink but a poor food match.

  • Ed in Montana Does not like this wine: 80 points

July 9, 2018 - Major mistake opening this too young Funk Syrah in June 2018. Harsh, not very fruity or tasty for a syrah from the Rocks. I have several more bottles which should not be opened for two or three years.

July 9, 2017 - 4% Viognier and Phelps clone, a third whole cluster and mostly neutral puncheons combine with good effect

    Distinctive nose, funk and sea-salt

Initial sweetness on palate leads into savoury charcuterie and luxuriant texture. Cool textured long savoury finish with pepper developing late on mid-palate

February 25, 2017 - Needs more time. Tastes a but "green" with slightly bitter finish. However cork did break low in bottle so could have been compromised

February 15, 2017 - Great now. Will only get better. Per saviah-Funky, earthy, meaty and briny. Rick ripe berry and cherry fruit. Savory aroma and flavor characteristic of the rocks district. Full bodies but graceful. Long finish. Quite wonderful. Enjoyed with capri salad.
