January 2, 2024 - The bottle showed heavy and tight and there was some "bitterness" that has not mellowed. I would say it needs a lot more time. It's just not drinking well right now. Still a nice wine, but not where I was expecting.
December 6, 2023 - Drink now. Decant
November 22, 2023 - Still a great Hall Cab, but starting to descend. Delicious! But drink soon.
October 29, 2023 - Goodly amount of structure still. Solid core of currant, oak.
October 23, 2023 - Deep ruby color. Medium aromas of blackberry, plum , tobacco. Medium tannins, low acidity. High alcohol. Pronounced flavors of black fruit, tobacco and tar. Medium finish.
August 5, 2023 - Deep, dark red in color. Bright red fruit on the palate with secondary herbal and charcoal notes. Firm tannins and a long, lingering finish on this ripe, fruit filled, full bodied Cabernet. Drank this after a 2 hour decant and it was much more balanced than previous bottles.
July 8, 2023 - Glycerin and fruit. A little dust. Blue fruit on the back end. Very good. Now-2030
January 22, 2023 - Beautiful dark burgundy color, strong legs with oak and dark cherry nose. Such a smooth and balanced wine with soft tannins, blackberry, plum, dark cherry, tobacco, and a hint of sandalwood and oak. Fully developed and a medium sweetness and acidity that drank wonderfully with a balsamic marinated filet. We did not get the incredibly long finish that everybody else is raving about, in fact found that is what was missing even after a 2.5hr decant and tasting it along the way every 30-45 minutes. After about an hour the alcohol toned down and the fruit started to blossom it was the initial flavors and the mid-palate that impressed. Overall, this was a great wine and we look forward to enjoying another.
August 19, 2022 - Super pleasure bomb. 2.5 hour decant, ruby purple, notes of cigar wrapper, blackberry pie, sweet herbs, vanilla laced oak, chewing tobacco and licorice. Palate is so silky smooth, rich and concentrated! Offering more lush creamy dark fruits, some hints of earth, fresh flowers and chalk. Balanced by nice acidity and powdery tannins on long finish! A pleasure to sip on!
August 14, 2022 - The 2015 Hall Jack’s Masterpiece presents a deeply intense, Ruby juice. On the very pronounced nose violet blossom, black currant, and black plum primarily show through with with wet stone, dried fruit, coconut and chocolate playing a lesser but enticing complimentary role. The palate held true to these sensations through to a long finish. A nicely complex and enchanting wine that will be paired tonight with homemade Sheppard’s Pie.
