June 25, 2023 - Rose's on the Deck (For a Time): A Summer Party -2nd Edition (Matt and Brenda's, Minneapolis, MN): Pale salmon color. Small glass. Had this last about a year and a half ago. Still drinking nicely, though i actually thought it might be tiring at first, but given a bit more time it came out of its shell. Sea air, strawberry, and melon on the nose, strawberry, watermelon, dry stone and subtle brine on the palate. Ranking the vertical and including a brilliant '17 from a couple days before: '17, '18, '21, '16, ,'19 then '20 with a fairly tight grouping. 91+pts.

August 13, 2022 - From magnum. Time to drink this for sure. Just starting to lose the fruit. Last week I had the '18 from magnum and it was noticeably better. Held this one just a little too long. My advice would be to be sure to drink these within the first 2-3 years of release.

August 6, 2022 - Aged rosé is definitely not for everyone. If you're looking for fruit, drink the new release. That said, I like my aged rosés in the fall/winter. They gain weight, the acidity lowers and they gain complexity. This still has some fruit but it is savory and much more mellow than a few years ago. Made the mistake of overchilling, but it was a hot Summer day. Will save my next bottle for the fall.

August 3, 2022 - PnP wine into glasses and let decant for 5-10mins. The wine has aged from bright and fruity into an herbaceous, musty, funky wine. Not necessarily bad but unique in a aged oxidized sort of way. Minerally, bitter lemon, sage, wet forest floor with some eucalyptus hints. Fades quickly.

June 19, 2022 - "Día de los Daddys" (Chicago, IL): I always say that we should age the Tempier, but trying this made me wonder if I actually like what it becomes with age. It's a very mood-dependent thing, and maybe it just didn't really do it for me today. Very savoury, with a slight herbal bitterness. I missed the freshness of a recent 2020 here. It's definitely a contemplative wine at this point.

November 20, 2021 - Big Al & Janelle's Spanish Inspired Blowout (Big Al & Janelle's, St. Anthony, MN): Light salmon color. Drank a small glass over 30 minutes. Drank this next to a rather juvenile 2020. The '16 shows well as usual, with bright floral notes, crisp acidity, peach, tangerine, strawberry-rhubarb, spice, and dry mineral notes.

August 28, 2021 - Just fabulous out of magnum. Maybe the best still rose I have ever had. Salmon / orange color. Exciting nose that’s full of strawberry fruit - good precision yet age has added a mellow nature that is quite pleasing. Full, serious with a lovely, complete finish. Wow. This is delicious wine that has improved significantly with a few years of bottle age. (94)

July 23, 2021 - I was skeptical these would get better with age--but I was wrong. The best rose I've ever had, including Champagne.
