September 25, 2022 - High quality as expected but doesn’t deliver much pleasure at this age. This was open in the bottle all day then decanted. All structure with searing acid and gripping tannins. This needs ten or twenty more years.

May 6, 2019 - Off the list at SommTime and really just rocking. Opened and decanted. I was a bit concerned that it might be a monster/come across as way too young. While it's clear this has the stuffing for aging, it's also drinking really nicely right now. Very precise and interesting. I very much enjoyed it.

October 19, 2018 - Tasted next to the Cappellanos this is a very different animal. More structured, powerful and dense but not better from my perspective. Balsamic notes, dark red and black fruit, noted of spices, tar, cedar, cigar and also some truffle. It's full bodied and powerful, with high tannin, high acidity and very good length. Super young but almost a little clumsy at this stage compared to the Cappellanos. (94+)

November 8, 2017 - Tasted at the Cantina with Roberto Conterno and Stephanie. Big perfume on the nose. Beautiful mix of acidity, tannins and structure. Big berry fruit on the lengthy finish. Superb.

July 11, 2017 - Really refined and pretty. Red toned and floral with medium body and classic structure. Feels a little more easy going than the 13' Monfortino but should age really well. Not a lot of tar or earth at this point; real focus on transparency and subtlety of red fruit.

May 23, 2017 - Day 2 in Piedmont (Giacosa, Conterno, & Cavallotto) (Piedmont, Italy): Barrel sample.

Palate was shy with subtle, classic Barolo tones. Tar, roses, cherries...just lovely. The palate was rigid and broad with a lot of structure. Tannins were silky so the wine felt very elegant and refined. Really enjoyable.

May 12, 2017 - At Giacomo Conterno with Stephanie and Roberto

Meaty and structured with rose and tar mixed with savory notes. Deep and structured with a sense of minerality. It is still compact, and more herbal-savory, with some meat, olive, iodine, and amaro. Fine firm nebbiolo tannins on the finish. Impressive and a wine I suspect will be a very good long term birth year wine for my daughter.
