February 17, 2024 - Decant for more than 3 hours.
January 27, 2024 - 2hr decant, should decant longer like 4-5hrs. Medium high acid, dusty earthy red fruit with some orange peel. black tea, licorice. umami and some chocolate on the finish. very serious wine.
May 23, 2023 - This is my fifth Poggio Antico wine, and my favorite so far. I decanted, strained, and then I let it sit for three hours. The 2012 is a very smooth wine that still has a bit of tannin. The color is deep Garnet, and there is plenty of leather on the nose. I would hold another three to five years for optimal results.
April 10, 2023 - Drinking very well. Well integrated tannins, cherries and earth notes.
December 21, 2022 - Brought the bottle back from Montalcino in 2018, finally drank it tonight. Delicious in all ways, bringing back all the Italy feels!
November 13, 2022 - Tannins resolved. Fruit present and cherry forward.
September 24, 2021 - UWS a random set of wines (@ JB): Beautiful, slightly developed bouquet with cherries, earth and herbs and spices. Same on the palate; cherries, and good, firm acidity.
February 13, 2021 - Clean liquid, great balance, entering some aged state but tasting fresh, red berries.
January 15, 2021 - Medium ruby
Dark cherry, plum, cinnamon, nutmeg.
Medium+ acid
Medium+ tannin
Long finish
Really nice. Fruit is present and well balanced with a spicy earthiness. The mid palate is rich and velvety, a real stand out compared to whatever it is I've been drinking. It could probably use another few years to ease back the tannin, which was very noticable with food.
December 31, 2020 - complex nose, fine structure, elegant wine, nicely balanced with a long smooth finish
