November 4, 2023 - Classic beaujolais, really lovely, now in a sweet spot. Juicy, a bit of spice, good balance. Love it.
October 2, 2022 - Excellent red & black fruit, soft tannins, great body.
Went well with chicken piccata (!) and pan fried trout filets.
July 10, 2022 - Really opens up after decanting for an hour and super soft tannins at this point. Notes of blackberry and currants. I got this for a steal and regret not getting more
September 20, 2021 - Business dinner in Atlanta
I feel no one keeps these around for 6 years. That’s too bad; because I quite like where this is at.
Underripe black cherries, raspberries, a LOT of fresh cut green herbs like parsley, sorrel and rosemary. Some wet stone and slate stuff going on too. A hint of bitter herbs. Medium + bodied, well rounded. At peak now. Will not benefit from further aging.
We paired it with southern (US) fried chicken, braised collard greens and mashed potatoes. It went well.
August 20, 2021 - The most unusual wine from Jean Foillard, and one of the most unusual Beuajolais wines I’ve ever had, this (L15 FL 01) is a big, high alcohol, New World Bojo.
It was double decanted and a half-bottle was served two hours later, with another half bottle served on night two. Big, extracted, without much Gamay character, it could be a California field blend. On both nights it seemed disjointed and lacked aromatic complexity, although it does have a good acid backbone, good red and black fruit flavors and some mid-palate sweetness that make it pleasant enough. On night one there was lots of Brett, but it blew off at hour three. There is so much great raw material in the glass that I am open to the possibility that the great winemaker has made something special that just needs more time to reveal itself. I have another bottle that I will save for 2025, and then I expect it to either be dead or to be magnificent.
Very poor QPR, here we are paying way too much just for the Jean Foillard name.

April 15, 2021 - Had this a couple years back and wasn’t in love with it. A few years of cellar time have done wonders — this is amazingly integrated and just a delight now. Wish I had more.
April 11, 2021 - Opened and decanted an hour ahead of grilled carne asada chicken, roasted potatoes, and broccoli salad. Murky, cloudy ruby color, almost glowing. Nose brings candied strawberries and cherries, along with lavender, violets, and some whiffs of forest floor. The palate is medium-light, round, juicy, and crunchy, bringing tart rhubarb, candied blackberry, high-toned orange, tangerine, and pomegranate notes, with wood smoke, cloves, and strawberries into a supple, puckery finish. Drink 2021-2026. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.
September 18, 2020 - Decanted for 1 hr. Candied cherry perfumes from the nose, connects well tasting onwards, hold its 14,5% leisurlied. Suprisingly cool, candied but no exessive heat to be found. Seems to be in a good state now, coherent.
I had the Epynom 15 the other month, and it was more intense and needed more air to come about.
