January 11, 2024 - Wow! Holding this wine was worth the wait. Delicious w/a scratch prepared dinner & also nice after dinner. Enjoy now or hold awhile if you have a couple bottles.
November 13, 2023 - Gorgeous golden color. A wine about structure and geometry, with honey and honey crisp apple, hay, quince.
August 13, 2023 - Found this average. I let it warm up and decanted it. Some stoney - melony flavors but that’s about it. Same on day 1 and 2.
August 30, 2022 - From a 375. Deep gold, ready for prime time. Rich mid weight palate, mild aromas which become more expressive as the wine warms. Not as alluring as 2012, 2013, or 2016.
August 6, 2022 - Lovely Rhone blend. Fortunately, it does not have the waxy flavors you can sometimes get out of a Roussanne. Also, definitely a wine to go with food, not a before dinner white.
June 15, 2022 - Time in the cellar has tamed the influence of the Picpoul Blanc that is blended in this wine. A wine of great balance. Light straw notes are accented by thyme, forest floor. Somewhat muted on the nose. An intellectual wine that if accompanied with the correct food, is a pleasure to drink. Good juice.
January 25, 2022 - A wine so unique that it is best complemented with the appropriate food. Apples, beeswax, limestone and animal fur. The nose is somewhat muted. An intellectual palate takes you to dried fruit and hay. I really like the old version prior to 2014, but still enjoyable.
January 23, 2022 - Monthly Tasting Group: Northern Rhone and a Couple CdP's (A - Side Public House, St. Paul, MN): Pale gold color. Small glass over 30 minutes. Lots of stone on the more nose, green orchard fruit skins, diesel, peach. The palate shows peach, apple, stone, a touch oily, steely, diesel, on a medium body. Well done.
November 10, 2021 - This wine continues to impress. I love the way the 17% Picpoul adds a lovely wild component to the creamy Roussanne and the bright Grenache Blanc. The aromatics are somewhat muted here, but on the palate, the wine excites you in every way. Lemon notes are running in stride with wild herbs, hay and cured meats. This wine is in a perfect drinking window with five to seven years of good drinking in its future. Good juice.
November 5, 2021 - This wine has evolved nicely since I last tasted it. Grilled lemon, walnuts and thyme notes combine to create a unique Rhône white. The picpoul has mellowed somewhat, but still creates a wild component to the wine. It is hard to describe, but it works well here. Great depth and texture. Drinking this near room temperature will help open up the quiet aromatics. Good juice.
