September 11, 2020 - Confession: I am hopelessly hooked on California (all over the State) Pinot Noir exhibiting the myriad of styles and expressions of this tricky grape. Oregon, particularly Willamette Valley, is still a newly discovered mystery for me. This wine reminds me of a few nice but not spectacular red Burgundies I had in the past, minus the sulphur. I like the wine with its fresh, clean, and lively buoyant red and blue/black fruit on the nose and on the delicate palate, carried by a mild non-intrusive acidity more than the distant remembrance of tannin. On the finish there lingers a candied cherry flavor coating the back of the throat. The 13.5% alcohol level is much appreciated, and the subtleties exhibited by this well made wine are refreshing after some of the flavorful yet sometimes overpowering higher octane Pinots we enjoy from points South of the Willamette. There is even a hint of supple grape skins on the final finish lending elegance to the wine’s profile. We look forward to the second bottle I bought in Maine on closeout. Enjoy.

July 12, 2020 - Pommard and Wadeswil aged 12 months in 30% new French oak. Bottled unfined unfiltered. 600 cases produced
Deep dark garnet and opaque in the glass. Light sediment in bottle on decant. Aromas showcase dark cherries, blackberry, rhubarb, black tea, violets, Hawaiian salt, earth and rock with hints of baking spice and strawberry.
The palate is rich and deep with firm above moderate tannins and juicy acidity. Flavors reveal what the nose detected, dark cherry, black raspberry, blackberry, black tea, rhubarb, smashed violets, earth and hints of smoke and spice. Long through the deep finish.
