June 15, 2018 - Expressive very primary nose displaying very ripe red and black fruit, black cherry, Chambord, cherry liqueur, a hint of fruit cake, nutmeg and cinnamon, a hint of balsamico/VA, lavender, tar, leather and earth. Excellent concentration, packed jammy red and black fruit, chewy but not rustic, good acidity, strong earthy mineral and a medium to long intense cherry and raspberry liqueur driven finish. This has to be the biggest and also perhaps ripest Barbera from Giacomo Conterno. Although very primary, totally open for business. Very impressive and generous showing.

November 5, 2017 - Beautiful stuff. Dark and dense in structure. Perfect balance on the palate. Dark berry fruits.

May 23, 2017 - Day 2 in Piedmont (Giacosa, Conterno, & Cavallotto) (Piedmont, Italy): Barrel Sample.

Beautiful color - electric pink/purple. Nose had explosive aromatics of violets, plum, and cranberry. Structure was there and it had a nice red fruited core. Should be a nicely complex and structured Barbera. Very good.

May 12, 2017 - At Giacomo Conterno with Stephanie and Roberto

    In botti

Deep . Nice perfume with violets and tar, a very dark barbera but with tension and enough acidity to keep it fresh. Minerality and cut in spite of size. Not my favored style but very impressive, quite long, and difficult to argue that in this style, this is great barbera.
