November 26, 2023 - Ruby with slight orange hue in thin layers. Nice nose of red currants and cherries first, then fading into mokka, forest floor and tobacco. On the palate the fruit stays, so the palate is much better than the scents. This is in its winter of its life and should be drunk up now if not perfectly cellared since release. 5/11/ 16/8. -2025?

August 13, 2023 - On the edge of becoming old. New world stye Rioja. In its age, lovely mingling of fruits, and some wood (but none of the traditional aromas imparted by long, long large wood aging in old school riojas). Silky tannins (about gone!). Low acid.

    Drink yesterday.

March 4, 2022 - Garnet with only a slight hue of orange in thin layers. The nose is of middle intensity, but complex with spicy notes, cherry brandy, truffles and pencil shavings. On the palate it shows excellent intensity with present but round tannins and fruity finish. 5/12/16/7. -2025 if perfectly stored since release, otherwise drink it up.

July 4, 2021 - Amazingly pretty much at the same level quality wise as 9 years ago. Everything is a little smoother around the edges, but still some primary fruit is left, mixing with more underbrush and truffles.
    Will hold another decade.

September 19, 2019 - Garnet to the rim. Still needs some air, no decant, to unfold. This is a complex as well as a concentrated red that is still performing well. At day two from the half emptied bottle some alcohol is apparent at the palate. Should hold through some more years if perfectly stored. 5/12/17/8. -2023 maybe longer.

October 22, 2016 - This was supposed to be a lower level wine from this producer that should only age a few years. This is not what I found. Cork pulled very solid, no infiltration, and stained deeply. In fact, the cork was so nicely constructed and I've seen worse at bottles priced 4-5 times more. Absolutely no bouquet. In glass pretty vibrant ruby red, with some drinking at edge of glass, as color did not extend to the edge. Very smooth and thought at first the fruit had faded, but all it needed was time and air. Fruit emerged after a good half hour, cherry flavored, and with nice bitter edge from the Tempranillo. At 12 years the wine has evolved nicely and I expected it to be past prime but it was not at all. I would drink now but some might try aging for a few years more. A nice surprise.
