May 30, 2019 - Earthy, darker fruits and a little tannic initially
Needed an hour decant to come around.
Flavors of forest floor, wood, mushroom, chocolate with stewed fruit.

March 3, 2019 - Much more red cherries with sweet tobacco than the 96, firm and tannic palate. Pine nuts, forest floor and currants.

If it's anything to go by it's like a more slightly more ready 2012, I'm struck by how fresh and young it seems.

As the hours go on the nose becomes more open, perfumed and pretty!

I'd suggest double decanting 4+ hours even though this is an 18 year old wine.

Personally I love it where it's at right now and it could easily go another 5+ years still being very appealing to me.

February 11, 2019 - Stylistically very much on the classic end of the spectrum for Napa. While enjoyable, this lacked any wow factor. Slightly disappointing given the pedigree and the price.

February 2, 2019 - Double decanted for 90 min, deep ruby with a lighter rim, black cherries, med. tannins med/long finish; very good & perhaps will improve later with dinner (if so, will update)

Alas, opened up beautifully several hrs later & was a perfect match for the outstanding duck at Casamir (raised score)

February 1, 2019 - Decanted and served. While this showed as a robust, delicious aged Napa Cab, it was more ordinary than the older vintages I've had and perhaps will yield those tertiary aromas and subtleties of palate with more time. Still, a very enjoyable drink at the moment with strong acid, tannins, and secondary fruit.
