December 4, 2020 - Tried twice. For what is an unheralded vintage, this shows the greatness of bordeaux. Still hanging in there and great for 53 years. Naturally quite green but with loads of wood, leather and after air, lots of coffee and chocolate. Just a classic aged bordeaux.

November 12, 2017 - Chicago Wine Flock...Jim is Playin' Those Wine Games ("Chateau La Grange" - La Grange IL): Served double blind in what turned out to be 1964-1970 Cabernet-based flight from Bordeaux/Napa. All bottles opened three hours before serving with a quick double decant. Fully mature black fruit with still firm tannins, giving a rugged finish that didn't excite me. Group liked this more than I did today.

July 15, 2017 - Cork crumbled but managed to extract most of it. Nose isn't good, 'pub carpet' was one description! Hints of it being corked so not too hopeful. Palate though was good, mellow and smooth, definitely at the end of its days. Hints of plums and weak tea, soft tannins at the start of the finish last through a reasonable finish.

September 15, 2015 - Amazing colour, showing dark garnet core with light brownish hues.
Still showing fruits on first sniff, follow by aromas of sour plum, dried cherry, earth and floral notes.
It has mellowed down on palate, exhibit cedar, plum, sour cherry, some iron mineral character, spice and dried herbs. Medium length with dry soft grippy tannins. -

July 19, 2013 - Tasted from a bottle stored on its side since the early '70s in an ordinary basement (not temperature controlled), part of an estate cache. No noticeable drop in fill level; the cork was solid though I had to be careful to keep it from sliding down into the bottle when inserting the Cork Popper needle. Not decanted.
Color a lighter, muted red. Still fruity, with cherry and slight prune note, and still some light tannin to provide interest and balance. With not too much mature Bordeaux experience, and no bottle with good provenance for comparison, I cannot say how much it suffered from its less-than-optimal storage. I count it as a major win that it remained enjoyable under such conditions even if it may not have been at its best possible. The flavor remained consistent through the hour-long meal, at the end of which the bottle was finished down to the level at which sediment started to appear.
