June 23, 2008 - Deep, dark color. Dark fruit with a hint of spice on the nose that followed through on the taste. Didn't know what to expect, ok but not terribly complex.

April 14, 2008 - Enjoyed this with pizza. Lots of spice and cherry on the nose. Based on other tasting notes, I think it's Syrah-like qualities appealed to me. Nice blackberry, licorice and spice on the mouth with nice acidity. Not a bad QPR, at least for me.

February 9, 2008 - I enjoyed this wine, although I agree it isn't your typical Italian (if you've never tasted Nero d'Avola, and I haven't!). It is Syrah like, nice spice and the tannins are there. I paired with pizza and I agree with drdebs this is a nice wine all things considered (like the cost!).

December 23, 2007 - Spice and dark fruit on the nose. On the palate, a surprisingly strong acidity, backed by spices and tannins. An ok bootle of wine, kind of interesting, but not great.

November 9, 2007 - Beautiful aromas of spice, cedar, cherries. Mint and thyme notes emerge in the palate. Nice mouthfeel, and medium body.

August 5, 2007 - This was a well enough made wine, but there was just one problem: I wanted a Nero D’Avola, not a shiraz. If I had been served this blind, I’m pretty sure I would not have even guessed it was an Italian wine, let alone a southern Italian wine. Blackberry and a fair amount of new oak lead the international charge, decent acidity, medium finish.

May 10, 2007 - Nice nose of plum, berries and spice. The palate shows matching fresh fruit, followed by astringency and some paper/wood flavors. Big woolen tannins finish off. A bit, shall we say, rustic. A good wine, but overpriced at $18.
