November 3, 2022 - Drinkable, but very much a one note wine. A little harsh on the finish. Paired well with spicy chicken and vegetables.

August 14, 2022 - Still drinking OK but near the end of its drinking window.

November 16, 2019 - Pnp. Nose is a bit muted but has some cocoa, dark chocolate and underripe cherries. Palate is a bit drying with menthol notes and chocolate covered cherries, but there is nice—if not quite balanced—acidity. It could gain a bit balance from more time in bottle, but it is enjoyable now, especially alongside a good charcuterie and cheese board.

June 30, 2019 - One of the best domestic red blends I have encountered. Classic Bordeaux style blend with the addition of Petit Sirah. Murrieta’s Well is currently owned by the Wente Vineyards as I understand the situation, but they produce smaller batches of estate bottled wines. The Livermore Valley is known for its red wines. Extremely smooth and balanced tannins, with a mild fruitiness on the front end and a smooth finish.

(Murrieta's Well The Spur) Saturated, nearly opaque, very dark red violet color; bittersweet chocolate, tart plum, graphite nose; velvety texture, ripe plum, berry puree, bittersweet chocolate palate with sweet tannins balancing acidity; approachable now but would benefit from a year of aging; medium-plus finish (45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Petite Sirah, 14% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc; 13.5% alcohol; natural cork)
