June 4, 2021 - From Magnum. Intense golden color. Reach and oily with ripe citrus notes, pineapple, white peaches, yellow plums and white flowers. Medium acidity. Very refined and enjoyable, at peak right now.

September 2, 2019 - Weekly tasting group RWP #342; German whites. Many Grosses Gewachs (@ RW): Expressive bouquet with melon. On the palate soft tropical fruits like mango, pineapple and honey melon. Good acidity and also sweetness. Elegant and full bodied at the same time. 90+

    September 30, 2017 - 13,5% alcohol.

Intense lemony yellow-green color. Intense, ripe and nuanced nose with aromas of ripe pear and quince, some waxy character, a little bit of rubbery off-character reminding me of berry wines and a hint of sappy greenness. Surprisingly rich and tropical - I'd struggle to pick this up as Riesling, if served blind. The wine is very ripe, oily and quite full-bodied on the palate with moderately high acidity. There are flavors of ripe and sweet citrus fruits, wet stones, steely minerality, some peachy stone fruit and a hint of balancing quinine bitterness. The finish is ripe, mineral and more dry and angular than the ripe and round midpalate. There are rich flavors of peach, some umeboshi (salty and sour plum), a little bit of bitterness and a hint of stony minerality.

A quite good, albeit very big and ripe Riesling, bordering on overripe and tropical. The fruit feels so ripe and the acidity so modest, the wine comes across as pretty off-dry, even though it is technically dry. Overall this is just too soft and fruity for my taste - this is enjoyable, but nothing I'd fill my cellars with. If this wine is indicative of the top level of Rheingau's 2015 wines, I'd be wary. Really poor value at 45€ - I'd look for something more structured and reasonably priced.
