April 26, 2019 - Maderized. Seepage above cork, but not into foil.

    Balsamic, faded fruit. No recovery.

April 20, 2019 - Still very fresh - alive and kicking! Leather, dark fruits, some truffle and undergrowth. A really nice amount of acid and tannin means it is grippy and moreish - the bottle was finished way too quickly. Long cherry fruited finish. Great with and without food (it retained the structure and acidity to deal with five-spiced belly pork).

April 16, 2019 - To honor Notre Dame Cathedral.1989 Grande Dame and Three 1985 Bordeaux (Yan's China Bistro, Walnut Creek, Ca.): Wine Group tasting in honor of Notre Dame Cathedral. Nose of saddle leather, cedar, cigar box, black cherry, black berry, red cherry, leather, and a hint of red bell pepper, big body, leather driven, rich tasting, elegant, old time Bordeaux, the best Chateau Leoville Barton I have ever tasted, and a long finish which was the only weak point. Alex, Derrald and I rated this WOTT. Picture of 4 bottles uploaded.

April 10, 2019 - A classic leoville barton wine in an old vintage.
The nose has mostly olive aromas,it has more tannins tha you may expect for such an old wine with long aftertaste.

February 6, 2019 - A Good Tuesday, Vol II: What a terrific showing. Still pretty packed with polished fruit, mostly resolved. Drinking so well. Tobacco and black olive, drying cherry fruit. Really tasty. Mature St Julien goodness from a richyear. Really fantastic and seems it will drink well for a bit. Would love more of this.

(Chateau Léoville-Barton St Julien) A deep red hue with a touch of tawny. Absolutely classic on the nose, intense mineral fruit, with some notes of caramel. It still has plenty of fruit, lovely tannins and pepper-like acidity. Elegant, medium bodied, and delicious. Classically styled and structured. A touch more impressive than my last tasting about eighteen months ago.

(Chateau Léoville-Barton St Julien) A similar colour here. Complex, more curranty blackcurrant fruit this time. Again some new oak. Soft but well structured on the palate. Firm but integrating tannins, smoky and curranty fruit. Rich wine, with a spicy, curranty, roasted herb, cigar-smoke finish. Good complexity.
