Community Tasting Notes 11

December 26, 2010 - This was a nicely aged, mellowed wine. I'm not very experienced with this grape, or this appellation. But it was satisfactory. Hardly anything to write home about though. Low to mid-good (81.5).

July 30, 2010 - I raised my score after a half hour of air.

Decanted this wine after a quick initial taste. Blood red on the eye, dark in center, with ruddy red at edges.

On the nose, big hit of coffee/mocha and earth, and red fruit, strawberry. Even a hint of pepperoni pizza, how is that possible?? I guess that would be spices and ham/bacon? The earthy-musty-ness disipated rapidly, gone in 15 minutes.

On the tongue, delicious - far better than the initial nose. Strawberry preserves, but not extracted or concentrate. Blueberries too. Huge finish, fruit for days, with nice silky tannins. Let me stress, REALLY soft silky tannins, with just enough acid to match.

This went down as smooth as silk, despite my impressions of the initial nose. Although the color has not become too mature, I just don't know if it's got the stuffing to go more than another 3 years.

Think I'll pounce on the other bottle a year or two from now. Really wish I had some more of these, I really ended up enjoying it a lot.

May 24, 2008 - Pretty decent stuff, musky and peppery at first with a weird fishy quality that blows off. The fruit profile is similar to other Cline wines, holds up well. This could maybe even go a few more years to develop, in stark contrast to the 05, which was very uninspiring.

March 7, 2008 - Always a crowd pleaser; juicy red fruit and nicely balanced except for a slight overtreatment of oak. Very easy drinking.
